Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Excellent communication from the owners, who gave really clear and detailed information about the van so we felt confident when taking her around and knowing how to properly set things up. There was really great space inside too, where we didn't feel too cramped or squished in, even though we definitely overpacked and felt like we could prepare meals, get dressed and sleep quite comfortably at all of our different stops. It came fully prepped with things like utensils, cutlery, plates, drinking water, glasses, tables and chairs, etc and they were even so thoughtful as to include a full to the brim welcome basket for us which was such a lovely touch. Driving around was a dream and even though some of the roads were very narrow, we didn't have any issues navigating or fitting into parking spaces. We were really really pleased with our hire and would definitely recommend and rent from again!

Where do I start???
We hired from Derbyshire Camper Hire as we have spoken about hiring a camper for ages!

After filling in an online date request we didn’t have to wait long before Andy contacted us, we got dates sorted and even got a BLC discount! All details were confirmed over email and we sorted picking Toffee up. We got a great detailed set up with how to sort the beds, pop up etc - there’s was nothing we had to guess.

We were able to leave our car on their drive which saved the hassle of driving back and forwards with cars and vans and meant we were good to go!

Driving it was a dream, the kids and dog all sat safely and securely in the back (me and the husband had conversations without interruptions as they couldn’t hear us/ or us them!).

The first night was a the test, remembering what we had to do, ensure the van was level etc but we quickly cracked that and by day 2 set up we knew what to put where and enjoyed our welcome beers.

We used the outside cooking table and camping stove to cook our food and just used the inside hob to make our morning cuppa! Equipment was all included and compact- plenty of storage, you just have to find places for everything!

The weather was mostly dry so we managed to eat outside, but the set up of the van would have enabled us to eat inside too! Chairs and tables all provided :-)

Sleeping - the kids (8&10 years) loved the pop up bit, specially the climb up :-) they had sleeping bags and were warm all night.

The van bed was very firm but usual for a bed which converts from seats. The bedding was clean and smelt lovely!

The welcome pack was a great touch and meant we could have a cuppa when we first landed at our site!

Return super easy - we let Andy know a time and we (reluctantly) dropped her off. He went back through the check list.

We came back to a super clean car too (bonus points for that!!!)

A fantastic adventure in Minty!
We have just returned from a weekend in Minty and everything was perfect. Our handover with Andy was amazing and he carefully showed us how everything worked. Minty was pristine and had everything we needed. I loved that fact that all utensils matched! She was easy to drive and we got set up near Matlock. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we had two very cosy nights even though it was only 4 degrees outside!
We loved Minty from the moment we set eyes on her. Andy’s care and attention was much appreciated. The welcome pack was great and we cannot wait for our next adventure. I highly recommend without reservation.

Just spent the last two weeks touring Scotland in Toffee, everything was perfect, great handover and communication.
Couldn’t have had a better vehicle, comfortable for nearly 1500 miles, saw some amazing things in it, comfortable for sleeping and standing up in.
As I’ve said, we could’ve contacted Andy anytime but didn’t need to, sent him the odd pic and sarcy comment as he’s a former marine 😜

Our hire was from August 2025.
We met Andy through a friend at home in Australia. About 3 months before getting to the UK, we communicated with Andy about hiring a camper for 6 weeks to travel throughout the UK. Everything was organised via email and WhatsApp and we even spoke with him over the phone to discuss the ins and outs of the hire.
In the UK, Andy pick us up from his local train station and then went to his place to do the handover of the camper and final payments. Andy was very thorough with the handover of Minty, the VW van. The van was complete with everything required for a long camping/touring trip. From gas, cutlery, pots and pans, chairs, table etc. Everything went smoothly from start to finish which was the total opposite to the experience we had with INDIE campers in France 1 month prior.
Andy and Co, thank you very much for making our trip enjoyable and memorable and will highly recommend your company to anyone looking for a great company to hire a great camper.

We hired Minty for a weekend in Dorset and the experience was brilliant.
